Empire's Mock Draft 2006

*no trades projected

1. Houston Texans - RB Reggie Bush
2. New Orleans Saints - DE Mario Williams
3. Tennessee Titans - QB Matt Leinart

4. New York Jets - OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson. I feel as though the Jets desperately want to trade either down from 4 or up from their later pick. At this point though, Ferguson is the best value.

5. GB Packers - OLB AJ Hawk.
6. SF 49ers - TE Vernon Davis
7. OAK Raiders - QB Vince Young
8. BUF Bills - OT Winston Justice. Bills could trade down and look for Ngata

9. DET Lions - DB Michael Huff
10. ARI Cardinals - QB Jay Cutler
11. STL Rams - CB Jimmy Williams
12. CLE Browns - DT Haloti Ngata
13. BAL Ravens - DE Kamerion Wimbley
14. PHI Eagles - DT Brodrick Bunkley
15. DEN Broncos - WR Chad Jackson
16. MIA Dolphins -S Donte Whitner
17. MIN Vikings - OLB Ernie Sims
18. DAL Cowboys - OLB/DE Manny Lawson
19. SD Chargers - CB Jonathan Joseph
20. KC Chiefs - CB Antonio Cromartie
21. NE Patriots - WR Santonio Holmes
22. SF 49ers - OLB Chad Greenway
23. TB Bucs - OT Marcus McNeil
24. CIN Bengals - DB Jason Allen
25. NY Giants - OLB Bobby Carpenter
26. CHI Bears - WR Sinorice Moss
27. CAR Panthers - RB DeAngelo Williams
28. JAX Jaguars - OLB DeMecro Ryans
29. NY Jets - C Nick Mangold
30. IND Colts - RB Laurence Maroney
31. SEA Seahawks - CB Ashton Youboty
32. PIT Steelers - CB Kelly Jennings

Wow, six Buckeyes taken in the first round... Won't Michigan fans start bleeding from the ears if this actually happens?

Re: Empire's Mock Draft 2006

Yeah, you've got to admit, there were some pretty stupid picks in that forum-wide mock draft we did, Gotham. Especially Millen going WR again... not that I'd put it past him, but I'd like to think he'd be fired on the spot if he tried.

This draft I like, Empire. Much better than some of the ones guys are getting paid to throw together. I can't see Leinart to the Titans, though. It seems that they're favoring Young, though that may be a smokescreen. Jets fans might revolt if they take 2 OL in the first round, but I'd love to see a team go for it. Two places where I'd differ with you: Carpenter probably goes to the Pats at #21 and word around here is that the Steelers will be all over LenDale White at #32 if he's somehow still on the board.

Ahh... I can't wait for the real thing tomorrow!

I've recently heard the same about the Titans which makes you think Leinart could fall into the later singles or possibly teens WOW. I don't think the Jets are in love with any of the three QBs to take them that high.

I know what you mean about the 2 OL lol. I could see them going after a CB or pass rusher with their late 1st pick.

Surprised to hear Pittsburgh likes LenDale that much. I've been thinking his guaranteed to make it to the 2nd round.

Re: Empire's Mock Draft 2006

Yeah, they wanted him from the get-go and at one point talk was they might move up to get him. Then the USC pro day went down and everyone soured on him real quick. Except Pittsburgh, it seems, and now with a little luck he'll be on the board for them (has to make it past Carolina). Granted, they'll need to get him on a mandated offseason conditioning program and get his arse into shape, but they see him as a solid Bettis replacement.

Re: Empire's Mock Draft 2006

Sports Illustrated (The Magazine) projected ruuning-back LenDale White to be selected in the first round, and the 27th pick by the Panthers. They also claimed that the Steelers would probably end up with Sinorice Moss from Miami. What are you feeling about these bold predictions?

Re: Empire's Mock Draft 2006

I could see that happening. White would be a good fit with either team, replacing either Davis or Bettis, and the Steelers do need to replace Randle El. More likely Pittsburgh goes defense if White's gone, though.
