NFL Draft: Young, Cutler Stock Falling?

This is hard for me to believe, folks, but in his latest mock Draft, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports has Vince Young going to the Cardinals at pick #10 and Jay Cutler to the Rams at #11. I know Young's Wonderlic and Pro Day have created some bad buzz about him, but I haven't really heard any new knocks on Cutler. At any rate, its hard to fathom these two QBs falling this far. What's the deal? Bad mock draft, or legitmiate possibility?

No way they fall that far...but fun that we really have no idea what will happen this year. I'm guessing a trade or two will shake it up a bit and surprise a few people.

I am inclined to believe that the lowest Young would fall is to #7, where I assume the Raiders would draft him. Cutler: I have no idea. Either one would be a phenomenal pick for The Cards.

Didn't Arron Rodgers fall a bit last year?...Some had him at 1st overall and he went to Green Bay...its a crap shoot really...but I wouldn't pass up Young...he is in a league all his own...Wonderlic or not...

I'm almost certain Vince Young will go in the top 5-6 come draft day. Even if some team trades up, I know a lot of teams love what he brings to the table and will never forget his performance in the Rose Bowl.

That's the thing that bothers me about all of this. Everyone's seen what Young can do, on the field, in a championship game. He took it over and pretty much single-handedly won UT the BCS title. So why does any of this other stuff even matter, really?

Who was it who once said, "Just win, baby"? Oh, yeah, it was Vince Young's future boss, wasn't it...

Cool Re: NFL Draft: Young, Cutler Stock Falling?

And Ryan Leaf played great in the Rose Bowl way back when.

You never know how a player is going to perform in the Pros. Young is even more of a risk because he's not a good pocket passer. In the Pros when he runs, people are actually going to try to tackle him instead of getting out of his way like they did in the Rose Bowl.

Yes Pundit, but someone still took a shot at Leaf at number 2...and if this was 1999 we would be speculating on who will make the better AB...Leaf or Mannnig. Someone will still take a shot at Young...

Oh - no question. But he's sort of like a NASDAQ shot. Huge upside and huge downside.

My motto has always been, better the steady 3rd round pick than the first rounder with the drug problem...in this case thought....the Wonderlic problem...

Re: NFL Draft: Young, Cutler Stock Falling?

I question Young's ability to hit a WR in stride. Seems like the games I saw him in the WRs usually had to stand and wait for the ball. That simply won't work in the NFL. I don't see Young as being a complete QB. As for Jay Cutler, I never saw him play once so have no opinions on him.
