i heard today on ESPN Radio that the NFL Draft is getting so popular they are thinking of doing round one next year in prime-time on Friday night

Ugh.. Well, it is getting longer and longer. Round 1 Friday, 2-4 Saturday and 5-7 Sunday does kind of make sense.

But I'd miss the Saturday afternoon telecast. It just seems... right, you know?

this is fine if tey want rating 2 tank i dont drink i kno for a fact friday is party night and i loved next years dropper say i dont ill just say chad henne i like notre dame and iowa sitting in the waiting romm till 1AM

That's a great point... Round 1 was over six hours long this year. Even if you start it at 7pm, I wouldn't be done until 1am. The younger crowd would likely be out on the town, and even with us older folks, ratings would fall off terribly at the end of the broadcast because of people having to work the next morning. The more I hear about this and think about this, the less I like the idea.

Naw, once prime time televison gets involved a team would be on the clock for 5 minutes or less and the first round, including television time outs would be all of 3-3 1/2 hours...look at the Oscars...there is now a time limit on speeches etc...

I say leave it on Saturday...every thing is not about prime time ratings...

Then again, TV contracts make the NFL...so they have a lot of say...

da leave it on Saturday and if u r like and have your favorite picking at 1AM im saying i want 2 see who the Bears pick but its not worth staying up till 1 AM

i can understand the idea but if they are going to do that then dont do it over 3 days, do it over 2, if they can fit it ino of course and then do like a 'round up' or something on the sunday. it might be easier for people to have a nice chilled out friday night watching the draft. but i think by doing it over the weekend you get that monday morning banter by the water cooler of "what did you think of our picks etc etc" i dont like the idea of having a gap on sundays...reading back my argument is pretty poor but you get the basic idea

If they want to do it in primetime and just over 2 days, they definitely have to shorten the rounds. Which they should do anyway.
