Calvin Johnson clocks 4.31 in Combine

INDIANAPOLIS -- Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who opted to run the 40-yard dash with his group just minutes before it walked to the starting line, astounded everyone in attendance at the NFL scouting combine on Sunday by gliding to a time between 4.31 and 4.35 seconds.
Johnson actually borrowed the running shoes of a friend, James Pinkney, the quarterback from East Carolina, who would later use them for his own workout. It obviously wasn't the shoes since Pinkney was timed in the 4.7 range.
Johnson told his agent that he wanted to run after seeing how many familiar NFL faces he saw in the stands that lined the 40-yard dash path. He will work out again at his pro day on March 15.

The kid's stock just went up another notch

Top 2 pick, easy. I say he'll go 2nd overall no matter what happens.

Re: Calvin Johnson clocks 4.31 in Combine

Running a 4.35 just proves what was already known: he is the unquestioned best player in the Draft. His only weakness is kryptonite. Unfortunately for him, the first two teams have relatively no interest in him.

The Oakland Raiders have made up with Randy Moss and Jerry Porter, so that takes wide receiver out theoretically. Plus, Al Davis is busy slobbering over JaMarcus Russell's size and arm strength.

Matt Millen knows there will be riot in Detroit if he drafts their fourth wide receiver in six years.

The Browns will probably pass over him as well, but they are at least in the spot where they can better their position because of it.

Leaving Tampa Bay to be the odds-on favorite to draft him.

That said, if I was general manager of the first, second, and third teams I would draft him in a heartbeat unless I could get the bulk of a draft from another team.

The best thing is, I heard today he wasn't planning on running and had to borrow someone else's shoes. And he STILL ran a 4.3-something!

the bucs wish they could get him but considering the browns have an earlier draft pick they will most likely draft johnson.
