“Did you hear?” I asked my co-worker this morning.
“Hear what?” he replied.
“About Vince Young.”
“What about him?”
I gladly informed my uneducated friend, “He only got a 6 on the wonderlic test.”
“Really, well I guess that’s it for his NFL career.”
The NFL combine is just too much. Now I know we all love the NFL and have to find a way to get our fix, but come on this combine stuff is over the top. It gives me the impression of an unedited football version of American Idol.
I hear next year on top of giving full coverage to guys doing bench press, vertical jump, and running the 40 yard dash, NFL network is going to have a live broadcast of the NFL prospects taking the wonderlic test. I’ll be on the edge of my seat.
“How many seconds are in three minutes?”
I’ll be screaming at the television “180, its 180 idiot!”
“Man, what a retard. I should be in the league.”
Hey why not take it one step further, make it like the show Who Wants to be a Millionaire. You could have a live audience filled with NFL coaches, scouts, and owners. It could be broadcast in prime time and hosted by Rich Eisen. The combine invitee would have the usual lifelines that a regular ‘millionaire’ contestant would have,
ask the audience, 50/50, and phone a friend.
Sounds goofy I know, but it beats Dancing With the Stars.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Who Dey. Thanks for joining us here! I'm with you on the combine. I mean, I love the NFL and all, but who wants to watch three hours of big ol' offensive linemen doing vertical leaps? Talk about oversaturation!

Now guys...guys...you have the TV format all wrong that's all.

Look, its should be like dancing with the stars! The Scouts grade the performances on a scale of 1 to 10, and then the audience votes on what player should be drafted...Scouts get 50% and the fans get 50%...

That way you see, the scouts can laugh at the fans and say..."yeah, you thought you knew better than me, and smile."...

See the shear beauty of it?...A draft format that takes into account a Reality show based on the combined!...Now that's a TV show...what fan would miss a chance to get his two cents worth in?...

(***BTW, I enjoyed Dancing with the Stars...I can now tell the Jive from the Paso Doble...very different dances really...what's that?...not here?...not now?...not ever?... )
