Holy John Elway, Batman! Bush trade bait?

Cheers everyone.

Is somebody going to tell me this is a science-fiction story?

What do you think the Texans could get in exchange for the number one draft pick, should this turn out to be more than idle chatter? Does anyone have an extra offensive line? Special teams?

And wouldn't it be interesting if a team traded for the number one and then drafted Leinart instead? A move worthy of Montgomery Burns...excellent...

No fiction to it. I think its an incredibly smart move for a team that already has a good back in Domanick Davis. Everybody seems all ready to dub Bush the next Superman, and he may well be. But there are still durability issues. Can he be a 25-30 touch a game guy? I've been saying for weeks that Houston needs to trade down, snag a few extra draft picks, and then select D'Brickashaw Ferguson to strengthen that woeful offensive line. Maybe they're going to do just that...

Re: Holy John Elway, Batman! Bush trade bait?

Projections show the NY Jets taking Ferguson with the fourth pick of the NFL Draft. However, the Jets would to see Reggie Bush playing for them in New York, seeing as Curtis Martin is banged up an questionable.

However, the Jets have a young core of talented offensive lineman. Afterall, they helped Martin win the rushing title in 2004.

So, maybe, with all the hype that surrounds Bush, Houston can give the Jets its first round pick in exchange for the Jets first round pick and an offensive lineman. Then, with the 4th pick, Houston could draft Ferguson and almost instantly revamp its offensive line.

It might be a bit of a stretch, but then again, how much could the Texans get in return for a shot at Bush?
