Chuck's 11 year old nephew was diagnosed with leukemia yesterday and lifeflighted to Akron Children's Hospital. Today the diagnosis was confirmed. Chuck's very close to his nephew and will likely be mostly away for an indefinite period of time. I've spent some time in prayer for all involved and I hope you'll do the same.

I am sorry to hear that. My profile pic is of me and my nephew so I can imagine how hard it must be. My prayers will be with you guys tonight Chuck and I hope you guys pull through it ok. I am glad to hear that everything is going better so far.

I've been wondering about Logan and his progress!?!? I hope that there is steady improvement daily!! Well they always say "No news is good news", so maybe that's why we haven't had a report "lately".

Yeah, sorry everyone. It's been kind of hectic lately around the old homestead lately, and I haven't been updating as much as I should be. Sorry about that. On the whole, things have been progressing fairly smoothy. There was a stretch in late Sept. where he had been in hospital with a fever, but he's home now and is okay. His immunity is currently at absolute zero so he's not allowed to go out to stores or restaurants, but his platelet and blood cell counts are on the rise, so that's good news. He's feeling pretty well, but is a little tired and his appetite is lousy.

He's in the second phase of his chemo treatment right now. In fact, he was dubbed a fast responder to the first phase, which was great to hear. Currently, his treatment has been involving weekly (for the most part) trips up to Akron and occasional blood tests and transfusions. Next week he starts his second batch of home-administered ARC shots. To be honest, these have been really harsh to his system. We think they're the cause of his fevers, loss of appetite and fatigue, but they're essential to his treatment so there's not much we can do about it.

I'm afraid steady daily improvement is a ways off, but the doctors are doing the best that they can. Prognosis still looks good on the whole, but it's still going to be a while before we see him cancer free and completely healthy.

By the way, Logan has a website through the National Children's Cancer Society. There's some photos on there, including from when he met Larry Nance of the Cleveland Cavaliers, auto racer Mark Pawuk and "Scooby Doo" -- or, as he puts it, "a guy in a Scooby suit." If anyone's interested, please PM me for the link. I'm a little skittish about posting it.

Hey, everyone. I know it's been a long time since I updated, but that's because there really hasn't been much to report. Until today. I am thrilled to report that, after more than a year of regular, steady weekly treatments, Logan has been declared in remission and has entered the maintenance phase starting today. We're not 100% out of the woods just yet, but this is a major, major step forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who offered their thoughts and prayers!!!
