Thanks again for all of your kind words, prayers, and wonderful messages. God bless all of you. Logan underwent surgery today to install the device for his chemotherapy in his chest. They were supposed to start the chemo treatments tonight but that's been delayed to tomorrow now. He also had something done to his spine that will tell them what kind of medicine he's going to need (it depends whether or not the cancer has gotten into his spine). I guess if the spine checks out, they can use treatment that comes with fewer side effects, so here's hoping and praying that this is indeed the case.

Here's an update on Logan's condition: he started chemo yesterday, and it went well. However, the cancer was also found in his spine and optical nerves, so he will need to undergo radiation therapy at some point. According to what his dad told me on the phone, doctors say it shouldn't change the overall prognosis, though, which at this point is looking good.

He will get his second chemo treatment next Thursday, and is scheduled to come home around the end of next week. We're all scrambling to get both his house and mine ready for him, which means getting air filters, making sure things are clean, getting rid of existing pet dander and smoke odors, etc. Looks like he might need to be home schooled, and he may also need to wear a mask while travelling.

Heading up to see him here shortly, so I'll be offline the rest of the day. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

Good news - Logan is finally out of intensive care!

It was supposed to happen a few days ago, but there were two slight complications. The first was a massive chemo-induced nosebleed that needed to be packed, since his platelet levels were too low to allow for proper clotting. Second, they detected two heart palpitations (sp?) Saturday night and kept him in ICU Sunday for obverations. Everything checked out OK, and since they pinpointed the likely cause, he was cleared to leave intensive care.

It's a small victory, but you take them where you can. We've still got a long road to hoe. Its likely that he's going to be in the hospital until the middle of next week, and even after that he's looking at six months of semi-regular visits to Akron for treatment. But it is a start.

My deepest and most sincere thanks to each and every one of you for your prayers and support during these trying times.

Logan's doing a lot better than he did a week ago. Every day is seeing steady forward progress. He's allowed to leave his room and walk around his floor, visiting the playrooms and such as long as he's wearing a mask.

Doctors do say that if everything works out perfectly with his chemo treatments tomorrow, there's a shot he may be coming home this weekend - about five days earlier than expected. That would be nice, but at the same point, I don't want the hospital to release him until they're sure he's ready. I'll keep everyone posted.

Yes, thank you for the updates!!!! Hopefully everything will work out PERFECT!!!! I'm sure he can't wait to get home. How long will he have to wear a mask? Will he be able to go to school? I hope that you don't think me rude for asking a couple questions. I continue to pray for him and will continue to do so. God Bless.
