Adopt a Forum Contest

Part of the mission here at GoTeamsGo.com is to have active forums for each professional sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) team and for every major College Football team. Since we're less than 6 months old, we're still adding forums and trying to get them active. I need your help in building these forums so I'm going to offer prizes to the 10 members that help the most by adopting a new forum.

The Prize: Snapfish Prepaid Gift Cards

I've got 10 prepaid SnapFish gift cards that will get you 70 digital camera prints from their online service (50 if you've already got a Snapfish account). Snapfish is run by HP and is one of the main photo processors on the web. They offer free online photo sharing, free online photo storage and free online photo editing software.

Contest Rules

Contest is open to any member that has a minimum of 2 posts in any forum as of 7/19/06. New member with less than 2 posts aren't eligible but we'll have a contest specifically for new members pretty soon.

Winners will be the 10 member who best adopt a forum that's different than the forum where they've made most of their posts.

For example, if you make most of your posts in the NASCAR forum, you'd need to adopt some non-NASCAR forum like the Atlanta Braves. If you're most active in one of our MLB baseball forums, you need to adopt something like the Notre Dame forum.

It's fine if you've posted in the forum before. It just has to be a forum where you've not made the largest number of your posts.

The judging will be subjective and winners will be selected by Lefty Noob, Gotham Dark Knight, ThePundit and me. We'll decide who has done the most to help their adopted forum and award the prizes to the 10 winners. If we don't have 10 winners, we'll distribute the extra gift cards to the winners who have done the most.

While we don't really want you all to focus on the same forum, it's fine if 2 or 3 of you want to get together and focus on a single forum. We'll look at the effort you put in as an individual so everybody has a chance to win.

Bonus points for adopting forums that are less active as opposed to forums that are already fairly active... but feel free to pick whatever interests you most.

You don't have to declare what forum you're adopting but you can tell us in this thread. I'm hoping it's pretty obvious who you adopt

Some of the things you can do to adopt your forum:

• start new threads in your adopted forum
• post replies to existing threads in your adopted forum
• recruit other members to post in your adopted forum
• recruit new members to GoTeamsGo who will post in your adopted forum
• bribe the judges... just kidding
• advertise your adopted forum in your signature here or at other forums

... whatever you can think of to help grow your adopted forum.

Contest starts now and ends Friday, August 4. We'll post updates as the contest gets rolling here. Feel free to ask questions & share ideas here in this thread.

The whole point of the adopt a forum contest is to encourage members who may only post in a single forum (like just the NASCAR forum or just the NNYankees forum) to post in other forums. That helps us grow and you'll also get to meet other members who aren't active in every forum. We've got a lot of great people here who've not met each other yet.

So here's the 1st update: We're off to a good start

I've already seen 4 members who are moving to adopt new forums. (Not counting Gotham because that man is everywhere!)

bringbackwilkesboro is shooting for a new forum for off topic & chit chat stuff.
wvgrandma4kasey & tn_gal are both working on getting enough interest to start a PBR/Rodeo forum.
kasey-kahne-9-fan (one of our youngest members) has been the most prolific yet, a virtual adoption agency Like many of our members, kasey-kahne-9-fan started out just chatting NASCAR but has helped us grow these 3 other forums:

I also would adopt a Truck Series sub forum if one were to be created. We already have a few threads. I was thinking we could do just like the regular Nascar forum, with prediction and race discussion threads and such. The problem is it is a form of Nascar, so it may seem sort of un-nescessary, just an idea.

Well, I have adopted the SF Giants, SF 49ers, SJ Sharks and the brand-new California Golden Bears. I hope others in the community come over and check things out. I would like to hear different opinions about my college team and possibly be invited to offer my opinion in other forums.

OK Ross, It's past 8/4, are you going to announce the winners or are you going to extend the contest to, maybe, 9/1? Just curious.
