Our great members are the lifeblood of GoTeamsGo. With your help, we've grown into an active community with several hundred registered members in a very short time.

Growing our membership is a constant effort for the staff and me. We do many things behind the scenes to attract new members but there are several things that you can do to help us. One of the ways you can help is to link to us from the other websites that you use.

How Links Help
Links from other websites and other forums help us attract new visitors (and new members) in 2 main ways.

1st, other people will see those links, click on them and visit our forums. For example, we've had 200 visitors in the last 3 days from just one link at another busy forum.

2nd, search engines like Google & Yahoo notice the links and give us more credit. Links lead to better rankings on the search engines and that gets more sports fans visiting our site.

How To Link to Us
There's 2 different way that you can link to us depending on where you add the link. Essentially, links from forums need to be different than links from all other websites. I'll give examples of these below.

Links from forums use the [url] tag which is part of vb Code. It's a simplified version of other web coding languages.

Link to GoTeamsGo from Another Forum

To Link to the main GoTeamsGo page from another forum use one of these:

Code:

[url=http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/]Sports Forum[/url]

Code:

[url=http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/]GoTeamsGo Sports Forum[/url]

You can cut & paste that into your signature file at other forums if they allow that.

To Link to the main GoTeamsGo page from a website that is not a forum, you can use one of these:

Code:

<a href="http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/">Sports Forum</a>

Code:

<a href="http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/">GoTeamsGo Sports Forum</a>

That code should work on any non-forum web page. That includes blogs, MySpace pages and regular websites.

If you want to link to a specific forum or a specific page at GoTeamsGo, that's easy too. Just change 2 little things in the code. Use the url (the address that shows in your browser address bar) of the page you want and change the text that displays (the "anchor text" or "clickable text") to reflect what page you're linking to.

Link to a Sport/Team Forum Main Page

So if you want to link to the NASCAR forum main page, use this if you're at a forum:

Code:

[url=http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/nascar-forum/]NASCAR Forum[/url]

and use this to link from a blog, MySpace or any other website:

Code:

<a href="http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/nascar-forum/">NASCAR Forum</a>

Link to Any Individual Page

Or link to a single specific thread like the one about the Most Boring Sport Of All Time. Here's how you'd link to it form a forum:

[url=http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/other-sports/4555-most-boring-sport-all-time.html]Most Boring Sport Of All Time[/url]

and you would use this code for a link from your blog, your myspace page or from any other website:

I linked this website to a couple other boards that I post on. One I post on quite frequently, the other not a whole lot.

Pacers Digest and Cranky Colts. I post frequently on the Pacers Digest, not so much on the other one though.

Like the site as well. Do you all do link exchange? We got 86 loyal members,and we are always looking for boards,with no flamers to team up with.

Hi joshfields78, welcome to GoTeamsGo.

Nope, we don't do link exchanges. You are welcome to put whatever link you want (within reason) into your signature file. We do have controls on when & how the signature displays to discourage spammers but feel free to post a link to your site in your sig.

ok, ive added a link to my sig for us at this forum

New UFO Revelations: China's Roswell - Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums

that should take you right to one of my posts

though ive been there almost 2 years and made almost 2400 posts im not exactly sure if the link is ok or not

i figured that i could ask, but that could also draw unwanted attention to the link

now i need to go there and make a couple posts a day i guess to make sure my sig stays seen......they are really really active and a topic can be pushed off a page in less then a day

hope it helps though as they dont really have a place for sports

That's great as long as you don't break anybody's forum rules. Some places allow it, some don't. You know how much I like people who break our rules so I don't want anyone breaking another forum's rules

But it looks like it's cool at that forum. Many other people with links in their sigs.
