Series Wrap-up- Mets @ Yankees 6/26- 6/28

Subway series action and boy did the Yankees show up these weekend. They win the series 3-0. Sweep. Done. Really great performances all around. The Mets only scored a total of 3 runs the whole series while the Yankees put 18 on the board. Thats pretty good run production there.

In the middle game A.J. Burnett pitched an absolute gem. He allowed 1 hit and struck out a season high 10 batters. Sabathia and Wang both has very impressive starts also. Mariano Rivera also saved his 500th game to end the series.

PLAYER OF THE SERIES

A.J. Burnett

It is definitely hard to score if you can't hit the ball. Burnett did a great job proving that point. He locked up the series win on Saturday by blowing away the Mets offense with great pitches. 7 innings, 1 hit, and no runs. Throw in the 10 strikeouts and thats one heck of a start for the Yankees.

MOMENT OF THE SERIES

The moment of the series has to be when Mariano Rivera came up and pitched his 500th save. He pitched that on the last game of the series against the Mets. Securing the series sweep, and quite possibly, a spot in the hall of fame.

I didn't talk a lot about hitting during this because it really is the pitching that impressed me the most. Sabathia, Wang, and Burnett all came out and really pitched fantastic. Like said before, 3 combined runs for the series. As far as hitting, Swisher, Posada, Gardner, and A-rod all had home runs. Teixeira helped the Yankees secure the sweep on Sunday with 2 RBIs. I also remember some nice plays in the field by Cabrera, Jeter, and Rodriguez. A great series for the Yankees. Lets sweep Seattle next.
