San Antonio Yankees

This has to be the funniest thing I've read in ages. Apparently, there's a group trying to halt the construction of New Yankees Stadium because it would take up some park land. But the Yanks are countering by, get this, threatening to move to San Antonio if they don't get their new ballpark!

Check out The Marlins Ballpark News: San Antonio Yankees? for more on the story, and have yourself a good laugh.

Re: San Antonio Yankees

Right across the street from Yankee Stadium (where the future one is planned to be built) is this big parkland, Macombs Dam Park.

The city will not allow the Yanks to move, too much money created from them in the Bronx. Hell, if not for the Yanks why would anyone go to the Bronx (unless you live/work there of course).

I once lived in the Bronx...and you are right....close it down...and give them room for a new stadium...

Re: San Antonio Yankees

Would they change their name? "San Antonio Yankees" makes about as much sense as "Utah Jazz."

Welcome KnowBaller...I think that would be the beauty of it...a name that didn't really fit... ...or we could go with "The team formerly known as the New York Yankees"...

Re: San Antonio Yankees

The AP reported today that they will break ground on August 16th, across the street from current day Yankee Stadium.

Guess San Antonio is heartbroken now
