Is Bobby Abreu a rental or are the Yankees gonna make him a part of their plans for the next few years? Im still new to baseball so I know theres a lot of B-Ball masters on here that can help this very powerful moderator!

The way he's playing now- he's one of the most valuable Yankees. In this recent series with the Jays he took 5.4 pitches-per-at-bat ( the average is 3.. He, alone, saw 76 pitches in the series! ( And he racked up a couple of huge walks, 5 hits, and several runs scored) I think the Yanks will want to lock him up for 3-4 more years.

Well since Abreu has at least 2-years left on his contract, he's not going anywhere. There's not too many (if any) teams willing to take on his money.

I doubt that would happen Goth. Especially with Sheffield release there will be room for the outfield. Who wants to pay a guy to play the field and bat against you?

If he plays well the last couple of months and in the playoffs. he's not going anywhere. And Sheffield is definitely gone after this year. If the Yankee brass is half as sick of his tired act as I am, then he's gone.

cause since he has come to the yanks, when he first signed he offered to play third base after arron boone, now he says if the yanks told him to play first base he says he doesnt care as long as he can get a ring

Yeah but merv hes doing that so he can get a ridiculous contract from George. Then the whinning will come...thats vintage Sherffield. Going back on his word. Putting Sheffield at 3rd would be an unmitigated disaster. And he has a ring from the Marlin team that was put together to win the World Series in '97 and then disbanded. Thats the second strangest story in baseball the first is The Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim! Thats like the Foxboro Red Sox of Boston!!!

i disagree sheff isnt smart enough for that he has always stated how he has felt sometimes that gets him into trouble but in that case i think you gotta trust him at his word more, its like he has ever cared to get besides the "cream" but that was him saving his future, i think he realizes at most he is getting the 13 mil option picked up but he isnt going to assume this will get him more and im sure a team will sign him to a couple year deal worth 10 or 11 mil so he gets 21 for 2 or 13 for 1 with no guarenttee he will be the same in two years . So i think the 21 for 2 would be wat he wants not his contract picked up

and about him moving to third thats more of a plus for him cause his value would suck as a 3b not a rf, so i think you gotta look at him doing what he thought the team needed to win not wat was best for his career

I just can't see Sheffield staying in New York.

They'll have Matsui, Damon, Abreu, Cabrera (if they don't trade him). I doubt Torre wants to have Giambi start at first for the majority of the year.

I don't know how true this is but i've heard somewhere that the Yankees are interested in Andru Jones, has anyone else heard this? It dosen't make sense to me.

I don't think my crystal ball has the power to tell how long Bobby Abreu will remain in pinstripes. It all depends upon the destiny that Abreu creates with the organization and most importantly, George Steinbrenner.

I don't see a valid point how the Yankees could use Andruw Jones. He is an excellent player, but I don't see where he would play. Centerfield is taken by Johnny Damon and Matsui clears up left-field. Unless the Yankees decide to place Jones in the Bernie Williams role, I don't see him stopping in the Bronx.
