Re: corey lidle our salvation

Id still put Mussina first but Lidle was magnificent today...I wonder what that jerk Chris Russo is gonna say now after dominating a very potent Blue Jay lineup.

Cool Re: corey lidle our salvation

He pitched well but let's not lose our heads. Mussina, Johnson and Wang are all better than Lidle.

It's not like the BJays are a killer line-up. He had a great game, let him show it over a few more. He's still lucky if he gets a single playoff start.

Are you kidding?

Toronto's lineup:

LF- Johnson ( .352 BA, 67 runs scored)
DH- Catalanotto ( .314 BA, 47 RBI, 20 doubles)
CF- Wells ( 26 HR, 27 doubles, 78 RBIs, 61 runs scored)
3B- Glaus ( 28 HR, 80 RBI)
1B- Overbay ( .300 BA, 16 HR, 27 doubles, 62 RBIs)
RF- Rios ( .323 BA, 15 HR, 55 RBI)
C- Zaun ( .370 OBP, 30 BB, 24 RBI)
SS- Hill ( .303 BA, 48 runs scored, 32 RBI)
2B- Roberts ( second major league game, HR)

Your comment was a joke, right?

569 runs scored in 2006 ( among the top 5 teams in the AL)

Re: corey lidle our salvation

Going on the last five games....

Last 5 Games...

Reed Johnson: 5-21, 3 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K
Alexis Rios: 4-20, 2 R, 2 RBI, 6 K, 1 SB
Catalanotto: 5-21, 2 R, 2 2B, 1 K
Overbay: 3-17, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 4 K
Zaun: 1-12, 3 BB, 3 K
Hill: 4-16, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 2 K

Obviously Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus are among the better hitters in the AL. But as of late, the rest of the line-up hasn't exactly been hitting the cover off the ball. Not to mention, the BJays are just 2-8 since July 24th, have a losing record on the road and are quickly falling out of playoff contension.

These stats came about BECAUSE they played the Yankees.

Cool Re: corey lidle our salvation

Maybe Shea Hillenbrand was right about the Jays. Maybe it is a sinking ship. It seems like they're going in the tank. They weren't even competitive in this series.

I thought the Blue Jays were a better team, they showed me absolutely nothing against the Yankees. O-V-E-R-A-T-E-D
