| Yankees trade rumors As always, there are a ton of trade rumors surrounding the New York Yankees. Some, like the Soriano and Abreu deals, have already been discussed in detail, but it seems like George and Cashman are linked to a new player every day. Among some of the recent reports: New York Daily News, July 18: "The Rangers are looking to move outfielder Kevin Mench, who is making $2.8 million this year and will be a free agent in the winter, so he could be a decent rental option for the Yanks if they are looking for someone to plug into their right field hole... Reggie Sanders appears to be back on the Yanks' radar, too." Seattle Post-Intelligencer, July 18: "Joel Pineiro's name has been all over the Internet lately.Word is the Yankees have a more than passing interest in Pineiro, who starts tonight at Yankee Stadium." Newark Star-Ledger, July 18: "An official with one of the teams involved said the Yankees were in 'very serious' discussions with the Pittsburgh Pirates about relief pitcher Roberto Hernandez." (Other sources are reporting the Bucs are requiring Burnitz to be part of any deal for Hernandez, though). Newsday, July 19: "According to two people who have spoken with Steinbrenner, his top choice to boost the Yankees' offense is Washington's Alfonso Soriano... Nevertheless, Steinbrenner's continued, surprisingly rational behavior makes it likely that Soriano will go elsewhere by the July 31 non-waivers trading deadline, and the Yankees will more likely wind up with Abreu or Kansas City's Reggie Sanders." Anyone else hear any good New York Yankees trade rumors?

| Re: Yankees trade rumors • Wishful thinking or inside info? Yankees center fielder Johnny Damon, who knew Barry Zito from the A's and has the same agent (Scott Boras), said, "I think he's coming [to New York].'' SI.com - Writers - Something's Brewing (cont.) - Wednesday July 19, 2006 12:03PM i cant imagine why th A's would get rid of Zito

| Re: Yankees trade rumors That Phillies trade proposal is pure idiocy. Not only is Rodriguez worth a lot more than all those marginal Phillies players combined, but to also throw Melky in there? That would just be stupid if the Yankees did that. |

| Re: Yankees trade rumors you know arod would veto, and yes maybe arod for his own sake needs out of ny, but he is to proud to do it or say it. But how do you trade for two corner of's any way with matsui coming back, forget sheff because if they got that trade he wouldnt be resigned. But then your left with 3 corner of's making a crap load of money |

if so id like it but the yanks always have gotten killed with nl pitcher trades/signings of recent years. But it also seems all the AL teams with decent back of the line pitching are in a playoff chase |

| Re: Yankees trade rumors Here are the latest Yankees trade rumors courtesy of Yahoo! Sports: "The Philadelphia Phillies wasted no time rejecting the New York Yankees' attempt to acquire outfielder Bobby Abreu because the trade offer did not include major-league ready talent or top prospect Phil Hughes, the New York Post reports. The Yanks remain interested in Washington Nationals outfielder Alfonso Soriano, but a three-team deal is likely the only scenario for Soriano's return to the Bronx." |

| Re: Yankees trade rumors Jayson Stark on ESPN reported the Phil's and Yankees are in serious discussions about Abreu. Here's the link to a MLBTradeRumors post about it. It would send Abreu and Corey Lidle to the Yankees for prospects SS CJ Wilson and SP Steven White. The Yanks would pick up the majority of Abreu and Lidle's salary. If that ends up happening, it'd have to be a huge win for the Yanks. Even though Wilson is one of their top position prospects, they'd get a good bat and one of the better pitchers on the market. |

| Re: Yankees trade rumors Lidle is recycled garbage. The Yankees need bullpen help. Proctor is overworked and hit or miss to begin with, Farnsworth gets hurt and is inconsistent, Mike Myers is older than the movie Halloween, and Shawn Chacon has turned back into a pumpkin. TJ Beam is not a pro, and if you can get something for him before the rest of baseball figures that out, then do it.
