Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

Yikes! I have yet to review the game, which I recorded on my DVR. It must've looked like batting practice for the Yankees.

Seven runs for the Mets isn't bad either, but can not compare to the 16 produced by the Bronx Bombers.

Was Alex Rodriguez the key aspect for the Yankees win?

Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

Quick recap:

-Mets pile on Jaret Wright, scoring four runs on seven hits in just an inning and a third!

4-0, Mets

- Jorge Posada hits a solo homer and Derek Jeter hits an RBI single

4-2, Mets

Jason Giambi (that's right) has an infield single, followed by a mammoth grand slam the other way by Rodriguez ( adds to his league-leading go-ahead RBIs)

6-4, Yankees

-Melky hits an RBI double and Nick Green (who?) hits a two-run homer to left

9-4 Yankees

- Error by Nady leads to four runs ( another double by Cabrera)

-Villone continues to be masterful, but gives up one run on a misplayed ball by Williams

13-5 Yankees

- 3-run bomb by Rodriguez

16-5 Yankees

-solo homer by Beltran off of Beam

-solo homer by Beltran off Proctor

16-7, Yankees FINAL

Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

A-Rod's opposite field shot to right-center went way back into the bleachers, but Beltran absolutely smoked his first home run. Good move by Torre getting Jared Wright out when he did. Willie Randolph has the luxury of playing in by FAR baseball's worst division with an 11 game lead, so he could leave Soler in to be roasted. This guy is not a pro, but somehow was dominating the awful NL line-ups. Red Sox also skewered him. Announcer Joe Morgan wanted him out sooner, but Yankees also bombed Heath Bell as well, who would have been the one to come in for Soler, only sooner.Mets pitching, except for Glavine, is in disarray, but they have the time now to fix it. Wright's failure will probably prompt Yankees to go after Smoltz now, but they say they will never part with Philip Hughes; this assures him of being a bust.

Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

It seems as if Carlos Beltran and Alex Rodriguez both had excellent games. Two homeruns for both batters really bring them closer to the MVP Award they desire.

I think I might remember Nick Green from his days in Tampa Bay. I remember analyzing baseball statistics for a fantasy organization I owned, and I came across his name. He is a young shortstop who hasn't been an offensive threat so far in his career. Green is still a reasonable back-up for your fantasy baseball team, even though he doesn't get that much time on the field or at the plate.

Thanks for giving me a brief recap of the game, MVB. I will be sure to check out your incredible Yankees' blog next time.

Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

A-Rod woke up in time to run my fantasy league record to 10-0 for the week...its about time my man...and I got Pujols back...Ichiro...and a pitching staff that includes Linario, Kazmir, Willis, Verlander, Harden, and a few others...its clear sailing for me (I think?)

That is a great pitching rotation, considering how well those players are performing this season. How did you grab all those aces when they were hot? You must be a great guy in the front office, Gotham Dark Knight.

Re: A-Rod's two homers, seven RBI lift Yankees past Mets

Perhaps it is time to dangle A-Rod out there as trade bait, Gotham. I am not convinced he is over his problems at the plate. His RBI seemingly come in bunches. Do not sit on your laurels!
