Philip Hughes

From what I'm hearing, this kid is the key in possible deals for Alfonso Soriano, Dontrelle Willis and who knows what other trades Brian Cashman is considering. What can you NY Yankee fans tell me about this kid? Who is Philip Hughes, and what kind of pitcher is he?

Re: Philip Hughes

If Hughes is like any of the other Yankees' prized pitcher prospects of the last five years, trade him now before people realize he cannot pitch in the majors!

Re: Philip Hughes

He was drafted in the 1st round 2 or 3 years ago and has since moved up to be the #1 pitching prospect in the Yankees system.

The only way the Yanks are getting Dontrelle Willis is if they're willing to give up the likes of Cano, Hughes, Duncan, Cabrera and Wang...I don't know what it will take but a package of those is not out of the question.

Re: Philip Hughes

Robinson Cano should not be part of any package. I am sure that the Yankees have chosen Derek Jeter to be the franchise-player, but Robinson Cano is the franchise-player of the future. Robinson Cano will evolve into an All-Star with more experience. He made an immediate impact last season, after getting the call to help the Yankees who were suffering from Tony Womack. There is no way that I can see a fair deal including Robinson Cano in the package. Of course, the Yankees can always pull off a deal without thinking through it. What do you guys think about the "fairness" of the trade that EmpireWF mentioned.

I'm not saying anything specific but those are the caliber of players you'd have to part with to get a pitcher such as Dontrelle Willis. I'm sure there are plenty of other teams with better prospects to offer up and who'd be willing to part with some guys.
