| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League Brad LIdge. ERA 2.19 SO 63 W 2 Saves, 28 for 28 WHIP 1.28 You can't very well ask for the best closer, and not want saves. Sounds like you have stats you want to present that colors things your way. So I gave the 28 for 28. What else matters, in the end?

| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League The Phillies, if they make it to the World Series, will not have home field advantage, thanks I believe to Lidge, who did manage to choke that away in a big spot. His shaky past is eventually going to creep into his head sometime in this post-season.

I think they said he threw about 96 pitches with the numerous times he was warmed up. Yep, he choked for sure. No offense, but it just seems you are popping in negatives about the Phils in every thread you can. If you don't like em, cool. I don't like anything sports wise that comes from NY myself, so I can understand that. But bashing them in every thread you can diminishes your credibilty. |

| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League I have nothing against the Phillies. I would love to see Charlie Manuel win a title and shove it down the throat of every sportswriter that has questioned his intellect. But they have a lot of question marks, like every team. Howard is a defensive liability that strikes out at record paces and Lidge needs to do it in a huge spot before I will be convinced. I don't think Utley is 100% and the rotation is less than formidable. The playoffs are about pitching and making plays and I don't think Philly is going to be able to 12-11 their way through them. |

Mariano has some things that Lidge dosent. A better ERA. A better WHIP. |

| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League Lidge is also 28 for 28 and has more strikeouts than Rivera. Joe Nathan has more saves and a better ERA than either one of them. And let's not forget how K-Rod's been tearing up the AL this season. |

| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League Quote:
As for Francisco Rodriguez "tearing up the AL", that is what this thread was aimed at. So I could say how K-rod has a higher ERA, has blown saves, has a higher WHIP, and how "K-rod" has less strikeouts. Which is why I think that Joe Nathan, Mariano Rievera, and now I realize Brad Lidge too are better than Francisco Rodriguez despite all of his saves. |

| Re: Mariano Rivera Is The Best Closer In The League I totallly agree with you. I think Mo is the best reliever in baseball. He is on the right track again, since he saved 3 out of 3 against the O's. He's back to his old self again and that means trouble if the Yankees can just get it going offensively. |
