Re: alfonso Soriano

It is going to take more than those guys to get him to NY, so I say, leave him where he is. He strikes out way too much, and is going to see alot more breaking pitches in the American League.

Re: alfonso Soriano

The Yankees would be glad to have him back at second-base, but I think the future of the franchise is now set around a few key players, including Robinson Cano. He is an excellent line-drive slugger who often finds himself in scoring positions. He still needs to work on his glovework and learn to have more patience at the plate, but he is a potential MVP candidate with his incredible 22-homeruns this season.

Re: alfonso Soriano

The Yankees are winning and now they are going to trade all the young talent that are helping him to get Soriano the bumbling, strikeout king. I thought these Raul Mondesi type deals were done.

Re: alfonso Soriano

Well unless Soriano is traded for a pack of cigarettes and a Star Wars DVD im going cross town to the Mets. Im tired of old men for young prospects. Look what all the Alomars and Vaughns did for the Mets but at least they learned...sort of. Young is in when it comes to sports. I shudder to think of this Faustian deal to bring the boy who hits .187 in the postseason back to the Bronx. Probably gutting the finally prospering minor league system the Yanks have. This is like the NY Rangers when they traded away all young talent to get old Edmonton Oilers from the 80s to help them win another cup. Sometimes I think its better to be a small market franchise like the As or the Twins so you dont have to see things like this happen. Disgusting.

Re: alfonso Soriano

Im not bashing them for winning a Stanley Cup. Im bashing the way they went about trying to win another one in years like 98 and 99. By selling their farm system for 30 something no talents (Brian Skrudland?) and the remnants of the 1980 Edmonton Oiler dynasty. Like I said, sometimes too much money is not a good thing. Youd think the Yankees would learn that after bringing in every washed up journeyman after they lost the 81 World Series and didnt come close to getting back there. I guess history repeats itself.

Re: alfonso Soriano

However, Trashed, the Yankees perform well with their money-roll. They will never perform as well as expected for that kind of money, but at least they win games. They are not like the 2006 Knicks who spent numerous dollars to end up in last place. The Yankees have a future in the MLB and their money just insures it.

I know you are going through a hard time as a Yankee fan, Trashed. Especially, because Gary Sheffield will be out for at least September with a wrist injury. That is a dreadful loss for the Yankees' ballclub. Perhaps, the Yankees will be able to bring up or find a reliable or decent replacement.

dont mean to stay offtopic, but did anyprospect they trade do anything, amonte weight, and the list can go on with other talents but those were the big names either way , none of them have won, or made contribution to a winning team, and i want you all to watch im a die hard ranger fan , but neil smith will turn the islanders around in 2 years

Re: alfonso Soriano

Well the proofs in the pudding as the old cliche goes. The Sox destroyed the Yankees "pitching" once again. If your gonna make a trade, do it for a pitcher who can help the club not some stiff whos gonna strike out 150+ times and hit 37 home runs. Thats not help. How many managers say pitching and defense wins championships? A lot. How many say we need to score loads of runs so our opponents will be playing in our type of game? Not many. Runs are important but in any sport defense wins. Pitching is the most important part of that equation. If you get Alfonso Soriano, his glove at 2nd will allow more runs to score than he can hit out of the park anyway at the expense of a real team player who has a glove and can hit well like Cano. You want to trade? Get a damn pitcher!!! Get lots of em!!! You will not, I repeat will not win with guys like Scott Erickson, Jaret Wright and Ron Villone. The 2006 Yankees are nothing but a softball team masquerading as MLB players. When the Sox won the series in 04 they new that it was a miracle and that despite their success they had to get rid of guys like Kevin Millar and Bill Mueller and make it a defense oriented team. Now their successful and will continue to be. The Yankees are like the Orioles just signing every loser like Sammy Sosa and Jeff Conine not thinking that pitching is important. Im getting tired of this thinking by the Yankees especially when the Mets are grooming young players in their system like superstar David Wright. Mets fans should be proud of their team while Yankee fans should boycott the stadium if Alfonso Soriano plays 2nd base in place of Cano just so he can hit the occasional homerun.
