Yankees Loss

Although Richie Sexson hit a grandslam in the 8th inning, it wasn't enough to beat the Rangers. The Rangers ended up wining the game 8-6 as Sexsons homerun changed the score from 8-2 to 8-6.

The game didn't start off to great for the Yankees. Pettite gave up a quick 1st inning 2-run homerun to Josh Hamilton. The bullpen had been used alot lately. Chamberlain, Rasner, and Pettite all three went 5 innings or shorter. Chamberlain went 4 2/3, Rasner 4, and Pettite 5. So when Pettite went to the mound, some expected that hopefully the bullpen would get a break, it didn't.

In the top of the ninth with the score 8-6, Derek Jeter got on first with no outs. Bobby Abreu was next who ended up getting a called strike three on a pitch. So then came Alex Rodriguez, he grounded to third and hit into an around the horn double play. The game was over.

This is a very important road trip for the Yankees too. It is already August and they are 6 1/2 games behind. They already started this road trip 0/2 so now they really need to buckle down. The Texas Rangers look for the sweep tonight.

Re: Yankees Loss

This one hurt. Reminded me of a famous Yankee loss in '88 where Dave Righetti blew a save to the Tigers and the Tigers won in the bottom of the 9th on an Alan Trammel pinch hit grand slam down by 3 with 2 outs. Anyone remember that one? I actually felt like crying!!
