List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

Ok ill start with the first being obvious:

1. Randy Johnson...a bust of Leafian proportions. At least put the old crapper in the pen where he cant do to much damage. And speaking of pen....
2. Mariano Rivera...the fountain of youth finally went dry for Mo. This year hes being teed off on and I think he would be great helping a younger set up man (Farnsworth?) become the closer as he retires with dignity.
3. Kelly Stinnett...I was at Shea Stadium in '95 with about 18,000 fans most of whom cheered the visting team and saw ol' Kelly "play." The guy simply has no talent whatsoever. At least he doesnt have a big contract.
4. Tanyon Sturtze...a piece of human garbage that even draws anger out of the emotionless Joe Torre.
5. Bernie Williams...hes on the team to remind us of the good old days not to contribute today. Isnt it time to move on?

There are more but those 5 are a start for me. Im sure some wiser fans have some interesting choices.

Aaron Small- Getting anymore out of this career minor leaguer would be like squeezing blood out of a turnip
Scott Erickson- He has been washed up for almost five years now

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

I think most of the Yankees' problems lay within their starting rotation. Here are some more additions to this list:
--Jaret Wright
--Carl Pavano
As you guys already mentioned:
--Randy Johnson
--Aaron Small

I think the Yankees should hold onto Melky Cabrera. He is young, and hits for the average. He isn't a source of power and doesn't pop any balls over the outfield fence but he is better than Bernie Williams [Version.2006]

You really think Jaret Wright is that bad Marc? I guess I could see your point. I also agree about Cabrera. I think its time for some call ups rather than another trade sending Cano, Farnsworth and a prospect for the latest washed up fool in his late 30s who "wants a world series ring before he retires".

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

I do not think Jaret Wright is a good pitcher. First of all, he was a waste of money appearing in only 13 games last year. He has caught on this year but his statistics are just horrible. He has a 1-3 record and a 4.94 ERA so far this year!

Would you believe that he has almost twice as many hits as earned runs? That averages out so that he gives up a run every two hits. After calculations I discovered that he gives up only about 5 hits per game (equal to almost 3 runs per game).

Wright better change his act or else I can see him leaving pinstripes very quickly. I don't know why the Yankees signed a pitcher to a huge contract, coming off a 15-8 year.

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

Another demoralizing loss to the Sox. This team minus "The Franchise" Derek Jeter is pure crap. This is no different from the mid to late 80s when Don Mattingly was the only reason to watch the Yankees. Im just tuning in for Jeter at bats from now on until they call up some minor leaguers and acclimate them. There is no reason to watch the Yankees anymore. What? You think Posada is going to hand out magic "Grind It!" t-shirts again? Those shirts better have spells from Merlin the Magician to make the 2006 Yankees a professional baseball team.

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

Wright shuts out the BoSox through 5 innings (his second shutout in three starts), and you guys want to get rid of him?????? Wang makes ONE rough start, and you all want to throw him away???? Wang leads the league in groundball outs, does not walk many batters, and has allowed the fewest home runs on the Yankee pitching staff.

Aaron Small pitched pretty decently the other day against the Mets, shutting them down through a few innings. Maybe the Yanks should send him down to the minors for some more work.

MARIANO RIVERA???? Ok, either that was a joke... or you've gone quite mad. Rivera is probably the greatest closer ever, and will continue to be. He's gotten off to a rough start this season (as he ALWAYS has), due to the fact that he didn't play winter ball for the first time in his career. He'll heat up, and be as good as ever.

Yanks that need to go:

1. Joe Torre- I know that sounds terrible, but I'm becoming a believer in the "Torre-isn't-great-anymore" club. He has just made some awful decisions lately. For instance;

Last night, Proctor was in his second inning of work. He went out and walked the first two batters he faced. RED FLAG! The count was 1-2 on Ortiz. Posada held his glove up around Ortiz's shoulders, over the middle of the plate ( trying to strike him out on high cheese). Proctor's pitch was in the dirt. RED FLAG! Farnsworth was ready, but Torre kept Proctor in there. Proctor threw a ridiculous 0-2 fastball right over the plate ( missing Posada's target for the fourth consecutive time). And Manny does what he does best.

Torre insists on using the worst of the worst pitchers he has! Sturze! Erickson! Why??? Because he doesn't really seem to care anymore, and it's disheartening. If Torre doesn't want to manage, he should step down.

2. Carl Pavano- What a waste.

3. Terrence Long- Played too poorly for the Kansas City Royals, so the Yanks signed him.

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

Wright and Chacon need to be traded for one unproven rookie. Let the scouts do their job and find a diamond in the rough.

Tell RJ he needs to be MO's set-up man. Imagine the Unit throwing peas for just two innings...remember when MO used to set-up for wetteland? HE made Wetteland look like a stud.
This only works if we decline his option and sign him for less...otherwise trade his old tired busted self to a team and pick up a couple of minor leaguers that are close to making the move up.

2007 Starting rotation...

MOOSE...how long have we had this guy and every year someone else comes in and takes the #1 hole away from him. He deserves it.
Daisuke Matsuzaka...phenom from Japan. This will be George pick up.
WANG...This kid is going to be awesome...wicked awesome when Guidry shows him how to throw a slider.
PETTITTE...yup we should get him back..and we can get him cheap.
PONSON...IF (yes, that's a big IF) he pitches well this year. But living in NY he'll get drunk and crash threw the stadium wall on the way to the game and spend the rest of his career in jail.
otherwise i can see us getting Jason Marquis.

Thin out the pen a bit. Look at getting Dotel back healthy and use the guys out there properly. If Dotel is effective he can throw the 8th and bring RJ in to throw the 6th and 7th. This way the SP only has to make it through 5. If he goes more, AWESOME!

RP to fill in when needed...Farnsworth, Myers ( let this guy pitch to more than one batter...PLEASE!!!), Proctor (over using him, cut back and he'll be effective), Villone.

POSTION PLAYERS.
Bye Stinnett. Pick up Bengie Molina to BACK-UP Posada.
The infield is golden. You gotta love Cano. And Miggy is a sweet utility...although he's getting old.

Matsui, Damon and Cabrera with Bubba as the 4th outfielder.
Bernie can coach first next year...or take a lesson from Mattingly and get away from the game for a while, be a special appearance coach in spring training and wait until the Yanks BEG you to come back to the game.

Sheff's done.
Andy Phillips is sweet. So is Melky.

And yes, somebody pinch Joe, the dream is over and it's time to wake up!
Maybe Jeter should foul a ball his head ala Baby New Year!!

Re: List The Yankees That Should Be Traded/Let Go

Hey there, Billyball, and welcome to GoTeamsGo. Great analysis of the Yankees situation. You think the Yanks might get Jason Marquis? That'd be a good pick up, I think. What about someone like Jake Westbrook? Cleveland seems pretty eager to deal him. Anyway, thanks for joining us here on the forum. Enjoy your stay!
