Cool A-Rod chokes again

He can hit all the home runs he wants against the Devil Rays, but with the Yanks down 4-3, bases loaded, 1 out against the Mets, he hits into a double play.

Re: A-Rod chokes again

You just knew he was going to strike out or hit into a DP...it's been that kind of Yankee career for the guy. Clutch is not his middle name for sure.

Hes in the shadow of Jeter one of the better clutch hitters in the game. I think its not that he doesnt care at the plate but hes forcing these at bats. Funny during last nights game Joe Morgan was discussing what a better fit Rodruigez would have been for the Red Sox. Maybe he was right.

Re: A-Rod chokes again

Some players will put up huge numbers their whole lives, and when it comes to a big spot, they cannot come through. What Yankee fan watched that at bat last night and did not know just where the ball was going to be hit? I was on the phone with my best friend, and told him that it would be a ground ball to short for a DP. I like A-Rod and want to see him do well, but for the life of me I just don't know what it is going to take to get him going. He is pressing too hard, and he takes a lot of good pitches early in the count, then swings at the bad ones.

Re: A-Rod chokes again

Does anyone think that despite his highs that A-Rod was a bad trade and signing for the Yankees? I myself am beginning to wonder.

Good point Trashed but I don't only think it's A-Rod. The whole team is just a weird mix. The Yankees have had 4 huge losses from their chamiponship teams:
1) O"Neil 2) Tino 3) Brocious 4) Pettite. But even though they may bring in superstars and upgrades in talent, it doesn't necessarily add up to wins. On paper, who would you rather have on your team? Giambi, Sheffield, and A-Rod or Tino, O'Neil, and Brocious. Is it even a question? But would any of the new guys have come up huge the way those other guys did?

Sooo, who would you rather have up in that situation?...I mean, you guys don't like him in the playoffs...don't like him in a clutch situation...why have the bum on the team?...send him to the Reds, we'll take him...

Re: A-Rod chokes again

A-Rod was a good sign for the Yankees... He was last year's MVP, and as some analyists were pointing out- Yankee fans seem to forget how Rodriguez carried the Yanks through their 2004 ALDS with the Twins.

He's homered in two straight Red Sox v. Yankee games, maybe he's heating up.

Re: A-Rod chokes again

He might be, MVB!

He has a .375 Batting-Average with 2 HRs in his last eight at-bats. Do you think he will come back to secure himself another AL MVP Title?

Re: A-Rod chokes again

Isn't the problem less A-Rod and more than Yankee fans had unrealistic expectations of what he could do? I mean, listen to the hype about him... you'd think a pitcher would need to be lobbing chunks of Kryptonite just to get him to pop up. He's a fine player, maybe not the lights-out clutch performer everyone was expecting, but to say that acquiring him was a mistake when he gave your team an MVP season last year? Seems a tad bit extreme to me.
