Re: Randy Johnson Wow, I'm surprised MVB! The Big Unit was paid to bring his nasty fastball and slider to New York from Arizona. It appears that it may have been lost in the mail because he is 0-1 with an 8.18 ERA in the last eleven innings he pitched. I think the best solution for this mess would be to turn Randy Johnson into a relief pitcher. He obviously can't play in a lot of innings without giving up a run. Perhaps if we shorten his playing time we would eliminate a few earned-runs.

Re: Randy Johnson Is Johnson statiscally among the leagues worst? Its hard to imagine him not being among them. GoTeamsGo statisicians what can you come up with. Definitely, this feces of the species should retire and spare us having watch him make a fool of himself. Johnson pitching reminds me of Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes.

Re: Randy Johnson I believe he is getting the most run support in the major leagues, so somehow he has won 6 games. He is getting pounded whenever he gets the ball up. 71 hits in 62.2 innings, a 5.89 ERA and 11 home runs allowed.

Re: Randy Johnson Cant they "suggest" he retire? If of course he doesnt do the smart thing and hang it up when its obvious he cant hack it ala Mike Schmidt. At least put him in the pen or mop-up role. Me personally? Id make him the water boy/bat boy and embarrass him so at least fans could laugh at the old fool. You know make him the Yankees version of the Phillie Fanatic. I mean give the fans SOMETHING for that money spent!

Re: Randy Johnson That is an interesting suggestion, Trashed. But he would be a pretty expensive "water boy/bat boy"! If only he pitched as well as he did in Arizona. Then, he would be a dollar (well more like fifty million) well spent. I'd like to see him in the pen.

Re: Randy Johnson True hed be an expensive mascot but when Johnson pitches he endangers the Yankees of losing games. Id rather have him as a mascot where everyone can laugh at him. Then again whenever the The Small Unit pitches quite a few people are laughing...particularly the management of the D-Backs!

Re: Randy Johnson The Diamondbacks must be lucky that they got rid of him and his huge contract. But the Diamondbacks have some trouble themselves. If the Yankees tried to trade him, who do you think would want him (and his contract)?

Re: Randy Johnson He will finish up with at least 15 wins this season. He is still a decent pitcher who will pitch well when he is turned "on". Unfortunately, (like in the Wakefield discussion) he is turned "off" most of the time. Do you think he will retire when his contract is done--or earlier? He has had a great experience in the majors and I am sure he would like to leave on a good note.
