Pity the Poor Yankees

I feel bad for the Yankees. Tough way to start the season. Both Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada will likely miss some time with injuries. They're starting a stretch in which 18 of their next 20 games are on the road. And they just lost to the Royals 5-2 in a game that saw A-Rod strike out four times for the first time since 2006. Like I said, a tough way to start a season. Anyone else want to express their sympathy for the Yankees?

Since I'm a Red Sox fan you get little sympathy from me but in all fairness I will say that it is a tough way to start the season. Yankees are notably famous for making a run in mid-season. Once healthy I'm sure they'll get back on track.

If holding on to Hughes and Kennedy kept them from getting Santana then I would fire Cashman in the next week. Hughes is nothing special. He throws about 92, not 98, making him just another prospect. Kennedy is a young Kenny Rogers, without the success. A golden sombrero for A-Rod.

i cant show sympathy to a team that buys their players and doesnt develope them. its great watching teams like the marlins, rockies, and diamondbacks have success because you know they didnt buy players like the yankees, mets, angels, and red sox do.

Lets See Jeter, posada, kennedy, hughes, Joba, cano etc are homegrown talent.
Saying the YAnkees buy talent is way 1990's
MArlins should be ashamed of themselves. They develop a player and then trade him
BTW yanks 7-2 in the 7th

what about johnny damon, gary sheffield, jason giambi, randy johnson, and oh yeah alex rodriguez? homegrown talent huh? seems as though your a little sour about the '03 world series when the marlins rocked the yanks

you list the Diamondbacks, but don't associate their title win with free agency?

As for the Yanks ...

Bernie
Posada
Jeter
Mo Rivera
Pettite
Cano
Hughes
Kennedy
Joba
Melky

As you can see, the core of their past and core of their future is and was homegrown.

What's embarrassing, is that some teams get millions of dollars for free and then the owner does nothing with it, just pockets it. Minnesota's owner is one of the 100 richest people in America, worth about $2.6 billion yet he doesn't invest it into the team like George and Sons. Don't be jealous because certain owners put money into their team.

Re: Pity the Poor Yankees

No doubt, when the Yankees were at their best, they were relying on home grown talent.
Have they come to rely too much on free agents and trade acquisitions in the past few years, you think?

92-98 is nothing without movement...does the ball move for him?...
