Yankee pitching records
I just wrote an article on the Yankees pitching records and was amazed to see that they have never had a 300 strikeout-in-a-season pitcher. Not even a 250! Guidry's 248 in 1978 is the club record. And Whitey Ford's 1,956 are the team record. Also, of the top 12 pitchers in team history for single season appearances, 10 were under Torre, including the first 9, which does lend credence to criticism of his burning out pitchers.
