I'll have to agree with you there Pundit, he is not the same dominant pitcher he once was.

What part of being over 40 do people not understand? There will be flashes of dominance from Schilling, maybe even Johnson if he can figure things out, but they are OLD for baseball players! As for Clemens, that mercenary will go where he can make the most money and have a chance to win. I still prefer his last outing for me to remember being his losing the WBC for the US against Mexico.

Yes, I agree with you that Johnson is old for a ball player, so why don't he just retire instead of living in the past.

If you were on the downside of whatever career you are in, and somebody offered you all those millions to keep at it, what would you do?

Does age really make a difference this year in the MLB? Ask Tom Glavine.

Different animal is Mr. Glavine...he is not a power pitcher like Johnson...nor does he have to wind up a 6'10" frame...Johnson seems less durable because of that...

If I were on the downside of my career and made millions of dollars for X amount of years. I would have invested the money wisely, and retire with some pride.

Besides, Glavine is the exception not the rule. If youre over 40 your arm has thrown too many pitches and its a mere shell of what it was. Its definitely time for Johnson to hang it up. This team is way too expensive for what they are doing on the field. Too bad they didnt face the Rangers all the time!

Not only will it be good for baseball revitalizing these crappy franchises like KC, TB and Minnesota with some stars for their fans to populate the park for but its what the Yanks HAVE TO DO. Swallow their pride and their salaries and build a future. Bernie Williams and Randy Johnson aint gonna win you a pennant guys.
I agree and if it wasnt for those high salaries I think Bishop's plan of rebuilding the Yanks would be done around august or september. However Steinbrenner isnt going to pay the salaries of players on other teams who will come to Yankee Stadium and strikeout or hit homers off of his team. The Yankees situation reminds me of the NY Knicks for some reason.
