| Yanks have best offer for Johan Senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said Wednesday that he believes the Yankees have made the best offer for Johan Santana, adding that the Twins "are not going to trade him before checking with us one last time." The Twins are going to wait as long as possible to trade him to try and get somebody to get nervous and trade away their whole farm system. If they call the Yanks and so OK they will take him no matter what deadline they used.

| Re: Yanks have best offer for Johan That would be a goal of mine if I were the Twins. I would get the best deal I could, but with an NL team. Why face an ace pitcher that will be gunning for you several times a year if you didn't have to. |
