Yankees looking better

The Yankees looked good in sweeping the Rangers over the weekend. Contributions from everyone, even with Jeter in a slump. Bubba Crosby plays great defense, but he is an awful hitter. Always good to put a whooping on Buck.

Re: Yankees looking better

Jeter did have an RBI single yesterday ( he had two hits), so he's not REALLY slumping. But yeah, the Yanks looked awesome- They had great defensive plays by Jeter ( game 1, 9th inning), Damon ( game 2, 5-6th inning), and Rodriguez ( game 3). The offense clicked as the Yanks scored 22 runs over the three games, homers by Giambi, Damon, Matsui, and Rodriguez. The pitching was good- Mussina gave up 2 earned runs over 7 innings, Chacon gave up 1 earned run over 7 innings, and Wang gave up 3 earned runs over six innings. The Rangers had come into the series with a six-game winning streak, and were really playing good baseball.

Re: Yankees looking better

I think that Hideki Matsui is one of the most underated players in baseball. He averages 23 homeruns and 110 RBIs in his first three seasons in America. But for some odd reason, in his first season he played in 163 games (which is rarely possible). But his best seasons were in Japan with Yomiuri. Does anybody else agree that Matsui is too underated?

Cool Re: Yankees looking better

I don't think he's underrated. Everyone here in NY knows that he's a good player. Plus he's such a good guy. He just goes about his business and causes no trouble. However, his fielding has been bad the last couple of years.

Re: Yankees looking better

Jeter was 4 for 26 on the last road trip, but he just dribbled one up the middle against Beckett before Giambi hit his home run!
