Brian McNamee's Lawyer Drops Bombs

Roger Clemens might have already passed the point of doth protesting too much. Clemens is planning on making an appearance on 60 Minutes with close friend Mike Wallace, and right after that he'll be meeting with reporters. Which is to say nothing of Clemens' new Youtube account and his recently posted video denial of the Mitchell Report's accusations. Now Clemens' lawyers are starting their own, totally unbiased investigation into Brian McNamee's past, presumably in an attempt to discredit Clemens' former trainer in the eyes of the public.

It'd be nice if Clemens would just sort of relax and let things play out, but the man apparently values the appearance of integrity and is willing to do anything keep up appearances. Unfortunately for him, McNamee's lawyers sort of seem better at that than Clemens':
"In the event there's a lawsuit, we've planned for that," Ward, who represents McNamee, told the Daily News. "We think it would be frivolous, but we're planning for that. With regards to the federal investigation, we're confident that (McNamee's) done everything he's legally obligated to do. It's unfortunate that this whole situation had to go down the way it went down. (McNamee) was friends with Roger and I think he hopes Roger understands that he had to tell the truth.

"Brian wants him to know that what he did, he was legally obligated to do. He's got a wife and kids. He's not going to go to jail for Roger Clemens."
In the words of D-Rock Zoolander: Oh, snap! If this turns into an all-out PR war -- which is apparently what Clemens so dearly desires -- consider this first salvo a win for the McNamee camp. This is going to be fun.

Cool Re: Brian McNamee's Lawyer Drops Bombs

If Clemens is truly innocent, he wouldn't think twice about suing MLB and McNamee.

There is no way he is going to sue. He would then have to testify. Not one of these guys want to do that. That is why Bonds did not sue and either will Clemens

How much worse is this going to get with Canseco's followup book on opening day. This is going to get good.

at wat point does jose run out of names, and start making them up, if he was so credible how come he didnt release them all at once, he was very accuarte with the first book so far, but at wat point does he start stretching the truth from a guy taking grennies, to a guy using the juice

I would say he has a lot of credibility until somebody proves him wrong. This was the exact sentiment when the first book came out. He was proven right. He may be a jerk, but he has proven himself to not be a liar.

I haven't read the first book, but it is on my list. A friend did, and told me it was only names he saw with his own eyes. He may have uncovered other facts or somebody may have come forward. He is surely doing this for the money...not because he is a valient hero saving baseball, but because he wants to turn a buck and is still using baseball to do it. I don't care if he writes 5 books calling people out as long as he is right.

i just feel like this can get ugly, yes he has been right, but when he takes evidence from a vindictive person he lines himself up for a very big liable lawsuit, and at what point can he not get information cause no one in mlb will talk to him cause he has been black balled? is just going to be black balled people, giving him info, trust me i think the mitchell report was a joke for the exact reason cansaco said so, but i just think he is about to start a new age Salem witch hunt, america today no longer acts on innocence till proven guilty, its your guilty till you give me concrete proof your innocent. He should just write one more book and move off of it. Plus he offers no information on how to get rid of the problem just the trouble makers, which does involve the people he got on juice too.
