Yeah, why else would Rose sign the darn thing?...at that point he has nothign to gain...yeah, he did wrong...but Baseball probably regend on the deal that was cut...so two wrongs don't make a right...but two wrongs should make the Hall.

Yes, he was under the impression that he needed to sign the document in order to be able to get into the Hall. Baseball is everything to this man. Do you think he would have signed if he thought it was the end for him? I also find it funny that as soon as somebody can make some money off him they loosen the rules a little. They have never taken any of his memorabilia out of the Hall. They let the Reds have a special wing to him in their museum this past season. They have a wall built from baseballs representing each hit he had.

This is an HGH thread so I will ease up on the Rose topic for a minute. For some reason, I believe Pettitte that he only used it to heal faster. I would like to know if he did it under a doctor's care. I don't remember hearing it in his statement.

Yep, I agree. Call that the steroid era in baseball and let those guys in the Hall (and Rose). But make sure that the steroid era ended last Thursday, when the Mitchell report came out. Enforce the rules going forth, outsource your testing and start testing at the minor league level like Mitchell suggested. Bottom line - don't dwell on the past, just clean up the damn game for the future.

As easy as it is to convict someone via media reports I also will let this mess filter out a bit. I'm not a Yankee fan but in all fairness he (Pettitte) has admitted to use. As far as I know the only implied use was during a period of time when he had an injury and wanted to get back in the game. Although his intentions are admirable the method is still wrong/illegal. As with any crime there are always extenuating circumstances and degrees of guilt. For now he's guilty only of using steroids twice. Will he be judged the same as a constant user of steroids ????

Re: Andy Pettitte admits HGH use

I can't find it anywhere, but what are the rules regarding use under a doctor's care. What if a player had a sickness where steroids were the treatment. How long does it stay in a person's system? Would a player get suspended if he tested positive? I am not saying that is what the players were doing. I am just curious.

HGH is not a steroid (I don't think). It's a hormone.

semantics I guess.

Re: Andy Pettitte admits HGH use

Empire's right, although it does share the effects of steroids. I believe it's next to impossible to test for as well.

A doctor wouldn't prescribe HGH for an injury such as one Pettite had at the time. As far as steroid use by a doctor for a legit medical reason, I'd think the doctor would do everything he can not to use it since the player would be tested for it. I'm not sure how it works if the player goes to MLB and informs them of his medical condition which warrants controlled steroids from a physician.

Then again, doctor's won't give anabolic steroids to patients on a whim.

Cool Re: Andy Pettitte admits HGH use

Petitte's usage sort of damns Clemens even more, doesn't it?

Not that I've ever heard, but then, does baseball even do blood testing?

Semantics ... yes. How about we use the term PED.

I don't, but from what I've seen of the commericals, that dude wouldn't last a day if he was a real doctor.

If he were a real doctor, he would have been fired or arrested soon after he got hired.
