Roger Clemens' attorney issued a statement (heard it on ESPN), denying ever taking steroids. It said he's been tested many times and he's never tested positive for any substance. He blames the fact the info comes from someone who is giving info due to his own trouble with the law.

So there's his side of the story.

You had to know that denials would be the very first thing you heard. It'll take a long time before all of this gets sorted out. That could be half the reason Mitchell suggested that the past be the past. Start new today and clean up this mess.

Pettite will play again, Clemens will not. If Pettite says different from Clemens, then Roger's denial holds no water. You notice that Pettite signed his contract earlier this week, before this mess broke, and the Astros traded fro Tejada before the report came out. This was done so that the clubs could say they had no knowledge they were signing a steroid user.

I wouldn't use that as evidence Vince. Clemens is last alleged to have used steroids in 2001.

Besides, something like 14-16 years passed between those two pics.
