The Houston Chronicle is reporting that P Andy Pettitte has told members of the Yankees that he will return to the team in 2008. Good move?

I'd say for the rest of the league it may not be. He'll be 36 by mid season next year and will probably still have some power left. I believe he was 15-9 this year so if he can crank out another 15 win season I guess he'll be worth having.

If that's true, that's huge for the Yankees. If they get Santa they'll have a very formidable rotation: Santana, Petitte, Wang, Joba, and Ian Kennedy or should I dare say Carl Pavano?

my guess is if pettite and santanna/harren are in the rotation they will trade moose at the winter meetings and eat some of the salary, he only has one year left on his contract

Yes. But hopefully, he'll just be a mop up pitcher. He's awful.

I think you'll need more than Santa and his elves to make Carl Pavano healthy and an actual major league pitcher again. However I heard today that the Santana talks are trailing off so we may have to hope for that!
