Yanks Still Interested in Lowell ??

November 15, 2007 -- With Alex Rodriguez all but set for re-entry into the Yankees' universe, it doesn't mean the Yankees have lost interest in free agent Mike Lowell.
A Yankees official confirmed yesterday the club is talking to the World Series MVP about moving from third to first and playing for the team he broke into professional baseball with.
Until Tuesday, the world champion Red Sox had Lowell, 34 in February, to themselves regarding financial discussions. Immediately following the Red Sox four-game sweep of the Rockies, Lowell spoke of wanting to stay in Boston. However, the Yankees let him know they were willing to talk to him even Rodriguez returned. Now, with Rodriguez close to coming back, the Yankees want Lowell to play first base.

LOWELL IS STILL ON THE RADAR

Cool Re: Yanks Still Interested in Lowell ??

Even before this A-Rod thing, I don't think they were going to sign Lowell. I think it was a cannard to force the Red Sox to give him a 4th year.

at the end of the season i was 90% sure Lowell would be back .. now its 50%

all i can go back to is Theo and the owners have brought us 2 WS rings so i have to believe they know what theyre doing and what is best for the team ...... we never wanted to lose Damon, but that seemed to work out ok

Re: Yanks Still Interested in Lowell ??

If they did somehow sign Lowell, they should move A-Rod to first and leave Lowell at third. He is a superior fielder to A-Rod and A-Rod would make a much bigger target at first.
