Breaking news...the New York Yankees have re-signed free-agent catcher Jorge Posada. The terms of the deal are four-years for $52 million.

As expected, the Yankees are bringing back Posada. He wanted the fourth year and he got it. Although I'm sure by the end of the deal, the Yanks may not be too happy with it.

Although he'll be 40 at the end of the deal, they HAD to sign him - especially since the only other team he was considering was the Mets who were going to go after him.

Here is what sickens me. Not just about Posada, but all major sports. He signed for $52 Million. If he plays 162 games per year (NOT !!) he will make $8024. per game. Again it isn't just him but really ... are they really worth that much ???

If the businesses that employ these players make a profit because of them, then they must be worth it, otherwise they couldn't be paid.

I totally understand and accept that notion. I just cannot fathom so much money per game. $8K for one days work seems just a bit excessive. I'd be tickled to have my monthly retirement check that size !!!

Well try not to think about the finances in that sense or you'll never enjoy any pro sport as much.
