Personally, I think Girardi is a the best choice out there, but the Yankees want to hire someone they can control. And no way they can control Girardi so he won't get the job.

I don't like Mattingly as much either they need someone to shake things, Girardi or Valentine for example

It sounds like Mattingly will be announced as the new manager sooner than later. One good point I've heard on the radio; no way the Yanks say goodbye to Torre and Mattingly within one month.
