| Re: Torre turns down Yanks offer Let Francona blow a 3-0 lead to the Yankees and see where he is the next year. Let Willie choke away another pennant and see if he is managing next year in New York. And show me the last player who turned down big bucks out of loyalty to a manager. Good luck with that one. I'm not an idiot who think that NY should win every year, but I am able to look past Torre's personality and see that they had teams that finished worse than they should have. His reluctance to hurt veteran's feelings have cost them dearly, and let's remember, at 5 mil a year, which would have been an almost guaranteed 6 cause all they had to do was make the playoffs for that incentive to kick in, he was still going to be the highest paid manager in the game. By the way, how much did you Mets fans appreciate the job Torre did when he was guiding your club to your 286-420 record from 1977 until 1981? How bout you Cardinal rooters and his 351-354 mark from the early 1990s?
