As each playoff game counts down slowly toward the World Series -- by "slowly" I mean as fast as the Rockies can play games and win them, of course -- a fateful date also slouches ever closer:
Alex Rodriguez's 10-day opt out clause deadline.
Whether A-Rod will leave seems all but decided at this point, but that's not going to stop
Scott Boras and E-9Rod
from getting away from it all for a few days, enjoying some of that California weather, and dreaming of the big bucks:
"We plan to spend a lot of time together in the next week," Boras said Monday.
"We're going through reams of information now and looking at the baseball side, the economic aide, the future of his family and what their goals are, putting all that into the landscape of what decision he's going to make," Boras said.
Boras said he isn't sure whether the Yankees' decision on Torre will be factored into Rodriguez's thinking. "That's not a question I've ever asked Alex," Boras said. "Alex enjoyed playing for Joe. Certainly his entire tenure in New York was with Joe and it's really all he knows as a Yankee. He was an advocate of Joe's as a manager."
