| A-Rod wants $300 mil for 10-years? Since Scott Boras feels that Alex Rodriguez's looming free agency is more valuable than any other player's, he will undoubtedly recommend that Rodriguez, 32, forgo the potential $91 million left on his deal. Boras would not estimate what Rodriguez could make on the open market, but it is believed that Boras could seek a 10-year contract for $300 million for his client. Boras was aware of what Rodriguez said about New York, but noted that he had other options. The Angels, the Cubs, the Red Sox, the White Sox, the Dodgers and the Mets are teams that could pursue Rodriguez. -- NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/09/sp...ts&oref=slogin |

You have to look at it from a business standpoint. The YES network is worth billions. And A-Rod is a major reason why so many people tune in. The Yankees only started drawing 4 million people when A-Rod came to the team. So from a $ standpoint, even if they pay him that money, it's probably a good business deal. Here's what I think is going to happen: The Yanks will give him let's say 30million for 8 years AND a piece of the YES network. Even 1% is worth millions. |

I don't think a payroll can sustain that kind of insanity...I like to see something like a cap of $15 and a % of revenue etc for future deals.... |

| Re: A-Rod wants $300 mil for 10-years? If the Rangers paid him what they did, the Yankees will ante up. Pundit is right when he says they will make it up on the side. They can't risk him going to Boston and winning there, although I personally think he will never win anything anywhere, his punishment by the baseball gods for grabbing all this money, which I guess you can't begrudge anyone.

| Re: A-Rod wants $300 mil for 10-years? I heard on Mike & Mike this morning that a friend of Peter Gammons paid for season tickets at the new Yankee Stadium expected to open in 2 years. Seats behind home plate cost the guy over $800,000 for just one year!!!!! He said for that money, no one wants to see anyone play 3rd base with less talent than A-Rod.... |
