At his blog,
Peter Abraham says Yankee GM Brian Cashman reiterated the stance regarding Alex Rodriguez and his options. Cashman said it earlier this year and said it again today.
If A-Rod were to opt out of his deal and become a free-agent, the Yankees would not seek to retain him. The reason being, the Texas Rangers financial obligations to A-Rod would become null and void.
Cashman said the Yankees would have no problem working out an extension under the current contract.
So within 10 days after the World Series, we'll know whether A-Rod stays a Yankee or leaves.
