The Yankees Should Be Ashamed

that's right, the Yankees should be ashamed

with that payroll and that lineup ..... this is the 3rd straight year they were put out of the playoffs in the first round

Money has nothing to do with it. Boston has the 2nd highest payroll and didn't even MAKE the playoffs last year.

It's a factor of playing the game and making the pitches and taking the swings. The Indians just did a better job.

Damon left four men on.

Jeter, Posada and Abreu left three men on.

Jeter grounded into a big double play earlier in the game.

It was a team effort.

Re: The Yankees Should Be Ashamed

Boston will absolutely kill this Indians team. I couldn't imagine Cleveland having a lead in the ninth to bring in Borowski, but if they do, Boston will batter him. Yankees lost this one as a team, from Posada unable to stop one of those wild pitches and hitting like a donkey in the clutch, to Jeter, who had a nightmare series, to Wang, whom I would package along with Cabrera and kennedy for Johan Santana. Good riddance to Torre, whose refusal to go with Mussina as the starter probably cost them this contest. I hope they don't resign A-Rod, get Torri Hunter to play center, and then dump Damon and Giambi after their ridiculous contracts runout next year. Sign Carlos Pena to play first base and Lowell to play third.

Re: The Yankees Should Be Ashamed

Whether A-Rod's back isn't up to the Yanks. It's all on A-Rod.

Jeez man, you're willing to dish out Wang because he had a bad series. The guy was the Yanks Cy Young for the past two years. Yanks need to develop those young pitchers, add a couple of bull pen arms. Bring back Posada and Rivera. I don't think Lowell is the answer if A-Rod leaves.

Re: The Yankees Should Be Ashamed

Yeah, clearly money has to be a factor. You don't shell out for the highest payroll in baseball history to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

I'm glad to see someone understands that. Putting an all-star team together does not always work. Those teams in the 90's for the Yankees played together and won together. The Yankees teams now are filled with players with their own agenda and not a team mentality. That will get you no-where. George Steinbrenner is a bonehead!!!

Steinbrenner didn't build the team, that's on Cashman.

Cool Re: The Yankees Should Be Ashamed

They are ashamed and Joe Torre is going to pay with his job. 3 first round dismissals are unacceptable.

But the real goat of the series was WANG. He stunk.

So Simon, so let's see the Sox, who don't exactly have small payroll beat these Indians.
