Jaba!

Wow! This kid seems like the real deal. We won't know until he actually gets hit to see how he reacts, but he has all the tools. Now we need to see him in a tight spot, because he has been pitching without too much pressure in relation to the score. If he stands up to that, it will be so huge.

Cool Re: Jaba!

This is shades of '96 with Rivera and Wetteland.

Re: Jaba!

I haven't gotten to see him throw yet, but have been waiting for it all season. There were several rumors that he was going to the reds for Hatteberg for Conine. Is he just a reliever or are there plans on him starting?

for JOBA? no don't so, he's been on the untouchable list for awhile, along with Hughes (and now Horne and Ian Kennedy)... the Yankees wouldn't have traded him, and especially for those spare parts.

the plan for JOBA is to be a reliever the rest of this year only.

That was the rumor that was going around. It never happened, but it was a rumor going around. It may well have been the Reds media putting it out there.

Cool Re: Jaba!

He's got a whole set of rules that Torre has to follow.

He can't pitch 2 days in a row. On days when he pitches 2 innings, he has to rest 2 days. And he can only pitch about 30 innings until the end of the year.

Re: Jaba!

Yeah, Joba's been amazing so far.... He's only pitched in five games, but take a look at his numbers:

7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 11 K

If he continues to pith like this, the Yanks have themselves a set up man for this year, and a possible starter for next year.

Re: Jaba!

just wish the yanks had a good lefty specialists. Sean Henn is average, but the rest of the new look bullpen with rameriez and jaba is just exciting to watch thy both have great strike out pitches.

Re: Jaba!

If the Yanks can get to October, how this kid performs will be very interesting.
