Sheffield Does anyone in baseball come up with more men on base than Gary Sheffield? I know this stat is kept somewhere, but I can guarantee you he is in the top three. He should knock in 200 runs a year with the chances he gets, but so far this year he has been pathetic. I cannot stand him being a Yankee anyway, and hope that Father Time catches up with him real quick now that he cannot rely on steroids anymore.

Re: Sheffield When he said he would not play in the World Baseball Classic unless he was paid, that was all you needed to know about him. He is like a carpetbagger. Canseco was the same way. The sad part is he is going to put up borderline Hall of Fame numbers. A guy that admitted to tanking plays to get out of Milwaukee. If he is ever elected, I will go and steal his plague right off the wall!

Sheffield is also the same guy who admitted to throwing a ball away in Milwaukee so he would be traded. The same guy who when the Yankees were talking of dealing him last year, said he would not play hard for the team he was traded to. Add in the steroids and I don't think he'll ever get into the Hall. He hits the ball harder than anyone I've ever seen but I won't be sorry to see him go.

Re: Sheffield legend, with runners on in 2006, Sheff is hitting .167 [3-for-18]. That drops to .091 (1-for-11) with RISP. Of course, the year is young. In 2005, he hit .354 with men on and .364 with RISP, and for his career he's a .313 hitter with runners on and .316 with men in scoring position, so historically he's pretty good in those kinds of situations.
