Ed Sprague taught them the proper way to slide ...... then they confirmed that it is quicker to slide into 2nd base

the deal is that, when you take 2nd without sliding, you have to slow down so you dont overrun the base ..... when you slide you can keep charging at full speed until you start into your slide
