Yankees not hitting

The Yankees should have saved some of their hits from their Opening Day rout of Oakland. They cannot buy a hit with men in scoring position, the biggest offenders being Giambi, Sheffield,Posada, and A-Rod.They go home for three with the Royals, which, on paper, should help get them on track, but then again you never know.

Re: Yankees not hitting

You know they'll eventually get it turned around, but after all the preseason hype about this being a 1,000-run team and the offensive explosion in the opener, this is quite a surprise. I bet ol' George is fuming pretty good about this right now, huh?

Re: Yankees not hitting

There is real cause for concern here. Giambi could fade back into what he was at the beginning of last year. Posada is undeniably on the downswing, as is Bernie Williams. And Robinson Cano is no sure thing now that pitchers have seen him fior a year.

Cool Re: Yankees not hitting

Everybody relax. It's only been 5 games folks against 2 of the best teams in baseball. There's absolutely no reason to panick. They will hit. Will the pitching hold up is the big question.

Re: Yankees not hitting

wow, really?? So A-Rod has delivered in the two blowout wins but not in the three close losses?

Interesting.

Cool Re: Yankees not hitting

Legend - Your post about Posada must have been posted in the Yankee locker room. See. There is no reason at all to be concerened about the hitting in the regular season. (Playoffs - maybe).

Re: Yankees not hitting

Yankees had 15 hits yesterday and scored 12 runs. They're fine.

They've been very up-and-down, very inconsistant so far though, haven't they?

Cool Re: Yankees not hitting

To be fair, Kansas City's pitching is terrible. So figure they'll hit somewhere in between: how poorly they hit on the West Coast Trip and how good they hit this last series against The Royals.

Re: Yankees not hitting

Well, on the west coast the Yanks faced two of the best pitching staffs in baseball. They scored an average 7.3 runs against Oakland, and 4.7 runs against LA. This isn't THAT bad, but considering it was done versus two great pitching staffs, I'd say the Yanks did fairly well. The Yanks averaged 10 runs per game against Kansas City. Plus the Yankee pitching staff ERA, over the first nine games, is 3.50-3.80, which, again, isn't that bad.
