Alex Rodriguez is just two home runs away from 500 after hitting one out in the sixth inning of the Yankees rout of Tampa Bay yesterday.

According to the Associated Press, "The shot came off an 0-1 pitch from Tampa Bay reliever Shawn Camp, bouncing into the netting of Monument Park and bringing in Johnny Damon off second base... With just two home runs now standing between him and No. 500, Rodriguez can't help but be reminded of the milestone each time he steps to the plate. The Yankees began bringing out new balls for Rodriguez's at-bats with home run No. 496, on July 16 against the Blue Jays."

So how soon does he get those last two homers? Does it happen this week?

A-Rod is so young he should have over 800 dingers when it's all said and done for him. The question is, where will it be done? I don't think it will be in the Bronx.

So it looks like A-Rod will hit his 500th before Bonds ties/breaks Aaron's record.

If A-Rod averages 50 per season, at the end of the 2012 season, he should be reaching whatever record Bonds sets.

The funny thing is, tonight's starter for Kansas City (Jorge De La Rosa) is the guy who gave up #400 to Alex. Baseball's a crazy game...
