| Damon: 'I'm just not getting any hits' Johnny Damon of the New York Yankees compared his season to a long winter's nap after he again failed to get a hit in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Damon is hitless in his last 17 at-bats and 3-for-28 since the All-Star break. His last extra-base hit came June 26. "I actually feel comfortable at the plate, and I'm healthy," said Damon, who is hitting .233 with a .337 on-base percentage. "I'm just not getting any hits." Damon has tried adjusting his feet at the suggestion of hitting coach Kevin Long. He has had several long at-bats since but has shown little power. He has hit the ball out of the infield only 10 times in the last 10 games and five of those balls were shallow pop-ups. "Johnny's struggling right now. He's searching for it," manager Joe Torre said. "We'll see if there's anything we can do to help him." AL notes: Damon: 'I'm just not getting any hits' - USATODAY.com |
