A-Rod to Yanks: Wait Until Off-Season

According to ESPNews, Alex Rodriguez has told the New York Yankees that he will not discuss the possibility of a contract extension until after the conclusion of the season.

Word yesterday was GM Brian Cashman was going to go against Yankee personal rules and try to negotiate with A-Rod and agent Scott Boras about a new extension.

At the end of the season, A-Rod has the chance to opt out of his current deal and become a free-agent. It appears he can possibly cash in yet again to the tune of as much as $30 million per year. Yes, $30 Million per year.

Cool Re: A-Rod to Yanks: Wait Until Off-Season

Boy, can the Yankees be any more re-active? Just 3 months ago, they were ready to trade him. Now...they decided to go against club mantra and try to extend him...

I mean, can their leverage be any worse? It makes me wonder what type of business acumen these guys have.

To be fair, I don't know whether it's Randy Levine or Brian Cashman. But I could have told them that A-Rod wouldn't negotiate now.

Sorry Yankees have finding a new 3rd Baseman because A-Rod is all but gone and will get like 225$ million in Chicago or LA so Yankee Fans say bye bye A-Rod

I heard they wanted to sign him now because if he opts out they lose the money the Rangers were paying him.

Aha, very interesting... very interesting indeed. Makes sense from the Yankees standpoint, then.

For that kind of money, they should let him go. They're much better off investing in pitching. They won 4 series without A-Rod and haven't won with him...

That may not be a bad move by the Yanks. Send him to Chicago for prospects and Aramis Ramirez. I doubt it could happen, but it would help both teams.

The Cubs would have to sign him ahead of time before they would make that deal because A-Rod is going to become a free agent.

Re: A-Rod to Yanks: Wait Until Off-Season

The Yanks won't trade (and I'm sure they can't) A-Rod.

Would the Cubs be able to afford Soriano's outrageous contract AND a $30+ million per year contract of A-Rod?

How ironic would it be if the Yankees took Soriano back in a deal? I know it's not happening but it would be funny.

That'd never happen. Joe Torre hates black players, remember? Just ask Gary Sheffield.

Re: A-Rod to Yanks: Wait Until Off-Season

Technically, Soriano isn't 'black'....I think...

And besides, why would the Yanks handcuff themselves with that silly Soriano contract?
