Re: Rivera, Wagner and the Sandman

Yankees fans are pathetic. Wagner started using the song 3 years before Rivera had even heard the song. In fact, Wagner picked the song, since he is a Metallica fan. Rivera had the song picked for him by Yankees personnel because it solicited the best crowd response of the test group of songs they tried (after seeing the SD crowd react to Hoffman's entry AC/DC tune). Doesn't that seem poetic--Yankees music picked to maximize crowd response / profit. Ridiculous that Yankees fans (for whom the world revolves around their own ego) think Wagner should pick a different song because THEY heard it played when Rivera entered a game first--nevermind the fact that Wagner entered to it, knows the band's music, and picked the song (when Rivera didn't) 3 YEARS BEFORE. Perhaps Wagner should apologize for making his MLB debut in a city that's not New York. How absurd. For factual reference, see this article:
New York Daily News - Sports - Song belongs to Met-tallica

Cool Re: Rivera, Wagner and the Sandman

Welcome to GoteamsGo astro 819- I think that Wagner should come into the Mr. Sandman by the Chordettes.

"Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Give him two lips like roses and clover (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.

(scat "bung, bung, bung, bung".)

Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.

(scat "bung, bung, bung, bung")

Mr. Sandman (male voice: "Yesss?") bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a "come-hither" gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman, someone to hold (someone to hold)
Would be so peachy before we're too old
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr Sandman, bring us, please, please, please
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream.

(scat "bung, bung, bung, bung".)

Re: Rivera, Wagner and the Sandman

That's a beautiful example of fine classical music and the legacy it has left behind.

Who makes it, Metallica or Mozart?

Re: Rivera, Wagner and the Sandman

When Wagner comes out he should have his own song with lyrics concerning a blown save that is about to occur. I hate the Yankees but Rivera is the greatest ever and Wagner does not look to be a good signing at this time.

Re: Rivera, Wagner and the Sandman

He wasn't a bad signing, but isn't worth his contract.
