| I don't even think this question is arguable: It has to be BABE RUTH. He's the best player in the history of baseball. Doesn't that make the best Yankee? The argument should be for 2nd place...And I would go with Mickey Mantle. |

| Re: Greatest Yankee of All-Time I'm with Pundit... the answer to this question is too easy. The greatest Yankee of all time, is also the greatest baseball player ever. Babe Ruth. 1. Babe Ruth 2. Mickey Mantle 3. Lou Gehrig 4. Derek Jeter 5. Joe DiMaggio 6. Yogi Berra 7. Roger Clemens 8. Mariano Rivera 9. Graig Nettles 10. Roger Maris |

Two I would take out - Clemens and Nettles and I would put in Whitey Ford and Don Mattingly. |

| Re: Greatest Yankee of All-Time You guys have Joe D way too low. Nine titles, over 1,500 RBI in basically less than eleven years. 56 game hitting streak and lifetime avergae of .325 to go with three MVP Awards. Also acknowledged as the best base runner of his era. Just a notch below Ruth and a hair better than Gehrig in my book.

| Re: Greatest Yankee of All-Time Nobody knows the numbers that Gehrig put up better than I, but I look at 3 things when giving the edge to DiMaggio. One is that Joe was a right-handed hitter playing in a park that took away tons of home runs with left field at the time being so far away while gehrig was a lefty with the short porch. Two is that Gehrig played the easiest position on the diamond, first base, while Joe D was in one of the toughest, centerfield, and made it look effortless. Three is that Joe hit 361 homers and struck out just 369 times. But I also realize I am splitting hairs to have a resolution. They were both phenomenal players. |
