Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is "heading toward" suspending Jason Giambi next week if he doesn't cooperate with the steroids investigation by former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, USA Today reported on its Web site early Thursday.

Something doesn't sound right to me about this. Can Selig get away with that? I doubt it.

I dont like giambi, I take that back I thought he was ok when he played for the A's, but we all know he juiced, he practically admitted to it, that being said what selig is doing is wrong. Selig knew several players were juicing and did nothing at the time because baseball was at its highest rating, now that everything is fine hes gonna start being concerned and singling players out, thats a low blow I say..

He has the best interest in baseball clause to fall back on, but undoubtedly the union will challenge him on this. It'll be very interesting to see how this all plays out. I'm betting that if Selig tries this, he can pretty much guarantee on losing any union support he had in the steroid fight.

That's ludicrous if Selig tries to suspend Giambi for not being cooperative with the investigation. Why doesn't he suspend the dozens of other MLBers who are just as uncooperative?
